The Department of Science and Technology—10 (DOST—10), through its S&T Consultancy services, assisted 27 micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) in the five provinces of Northern Mindanao in boosting their business productivity.
The DOST Manufacturing Productivity Extension (MPEX) Program is designed to help businesses unlock their potential and achieve higher output levels. Through consultations and assessments, the program aims to identify areas for improvement, adopt modern technologies, and enhance management skills and knowledge.
DOST-hired external consultants are expected to help MSMEs in the manufacturing sector increase their efficiency and profitability by optimizing processes, upgrading equipment, and more.
The MPEX Program is DOST’s initiative to strengthen STI support services for the production and manufacturing sectors, a strategy to foster wealth creation in Northern Mindanao.
MSMEs also receive assistance in various aspects of compliance and certifications. This assistance includes helping with their FDA License to Operate (LTO) application, securing Certificates of Product Registration, designing plant layouts, and training on food safety practices such as basic food hygiene, good manufacturing practices, and even Halal certification. MSMEs can also receive assistance in crafting their packaging and labels.
