Bukidnon arabica coffee is PHL best

CAGAYAN DE ORO CITY (PIA)–A coffee grower from New Eden, Pangantucan, Bukidnon, celebrates the excellent outcome his Arabica coffee beans produced.

Pangantucan Vice Mayor Manolito Garces bagged the top award in the Arabica category of the Philippine Coffee Quality Competition (PCQC) 2023 with a cupping score of 86.

The naturally processed coffee beans were described as floral with notes of pineapple, berries, and chocolate.

Garces also received the Best Natural Award for his coffee. Three other Bukidnon farmers were likewise awarded for their quality Arabica coffee beans.

Junmar Gunayan of MILALITTRA Farmers Agriculture Cooperative (MILFACO) placed fourth in the Arabica category; Arnold Pina of Bayanihan Millenium Multi-Purpose Cooperative placed sixth; and Rosebele Sulatan, also from MILFACO, placed ninth.

There were a total of 43 entries in the Arabica category this year.

The PCQC awarding ceremony was held during the last day of the Philippine Coffee Expo at the World Trade Center Metro Manila, Pasay, June 4, 2023. A total of 43 entries joined the Arabica category. (DTI-10/PIA-10)
